What was the first song that impressed you enough to make you think "That's what I want to do"?
Hi Dave! :-) Great question! Janis Ian's "At Seventeen" made a pretty strong impression on me the first time I heard it. The melody stuck in my head and I wanted to sing it so badly but I didn't know the words (this was pre-internet). So I made up all new lyrics to her melody, just to be able to sing the song around the house. I was probably only 8 or 9 -- didn't really understand what "songwriting" was yet -- but I was definitely hooked from that moment on!
you did not schedule a concert at the Freight and Salvage? durn, i will miss you there...................Mare Wakefield & Nomad responded on 07/05/2016 Next question
I was re-listening to "Bernice & Bernadette" and got some of the same feeling of nostalgia as in some of Jacques Brel's songs or in "The Dutchman" by Michael Smith - great song and mental images.Mare Wakefield & Nomad responded on 07/05/2016
